mixed-reality prototype evaluated in one user study, after a survey of 50 office workers

The mixed-reality prototype removed visual noise from the open-plan workspace and supported concentration and workplace well-being while necessary face-to-face collaboration continued

The authors built a mixed-reality system that removes surrounding people and objects from view with virtual reality and diminished reality methods, and reads face orientation together with a distance threshold to detect when someone intends to collaborate. A user study evaluated the prototype in an open-plan setting. The authors report that the system created a tranquil workspace for concentration and workplace well-being while in-situ collaboration continued; the abstract gives neither the number of participants nor an effect size.
