No cookies, no analytics
The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts and embeds no tracking pixels. Reading TBR does not place anything on your device to recognise you, and no third-party analytics service is used.
Server logs and hosting
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, your IP address and other technical data such as browser type, access time and the requested URL are transmitted to Vercel's servers. This is needed to deliver and secure the site and rests on the legitimate interest in operating it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For details, see the Vercel privacy policy.
Fonts
The typeface Archivo is hosted on this site's own server. No data is sent to Google or any other third party when the fonts load.
Newsletter
If you sign up for reports by email, the address you enter is stored and used to send you new reports and nothing else. You confirm the sign-up by clicking a link in a confirmation email (double opt-in), and the address is only activated once you do. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing or by writing to the address above, with no effect on what was sent before.
The newsletter runs through Resend (Resend, Inc., United States), which stores your address and delivers the mail on TBR's behalf. Sending the address to the United States rests on the EU standard contractual clauses agreed with the provider. TBR emails carry no tracking pixels.
Accounts and sign-in
Reading TBR needs no account. If you create one to download reports, the address you enter and your sign-in sessions are stored in TBR's own database. There is no password: you sign in by clicking a one-time link sent to your email. The account exists so the site can recognise you across visits and let you download. The legal basis is the performance of this service at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
The database runs on Neon (Neon, Inc., United States), and the sign-in link is delivered through Resend, named above. Storing this data in the United States rests on the EU standard contractual clauses agreed with these providers. You can have your account and its data erased at any time by writing to the address above.
What TBR does not do
No profiling, no automated decisions, no use of personal data for marketing, and no sharing of data with third parties beyond the host and the email provider named above.
Data retention
Personal data is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the data held about you (Art. 15), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). To exercise any of these, write to contact@thebuiltreview.com.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. The competent one for this site is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
