263 participants across ten green exercise case studies in four UK regions

Green exercise produced a significant improvement in self-esteem and total mood disturbance, and the improvement was similar across all ten case studies

Ten green exercise case studies in four UK regions measured self-esteem and mood before and after the activity in 263 participants who were already active and healthy. Self-esteem and total mood disturbance both improved significantly, with anger-hostility, confusion-bewilderment, depression-dejection and tension-anxiety all better after the activity. The improvement was similar in all ten case studies; the study reports no test of whether the type, intensity or duration of the activity mattered.
